Skin Care Must Haves

About a year or so ago, I sent a desperate email to my friend, Krista, begging her for some skin care advice! Thankfully, she sent me a very detailed email recommending products, what they do, and where I should start. That led me to doing my own research and experimenting, and so I’m sharing with you today my current favorite products I’ve found and why I love them! Hopefully this can start you on your path to finding skin care products you love.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant \\ This exfoliant is a.m.a.z.i.n.g and it is the product I now recommend most. I actually tried this out at my friend’s house and instantly fell in love. For the next three days, I couldn’t stop touching my face. The little crystals slough off all the dead skin, leaving your skin smooth and soft. I use this a couple times a week for an extra clean feeling.

Glamglow Supermud Mask \\ I talked about this product most recently in my charcoal face mask review. I really love it. It clears my pores, leaves my skin feeling very refreshed, and helps anytime I have breakouts pop up.

Dr. Jart+ Water Replenishment Face Mask \\ Sheet masks are great for extra hydration when your skin feels dull and dry. I incorporate one into my weekly facial routine, and this hydration mask by Dr. Jart+ is by far my favorite one I’ve tried. They’re a little awkward at first, but your skin will feel so hydrated in 20 short minutes.

Philosophy Clear Days Ahead Moisturizer \\ This was one of the products recommended by Krista in that initial email, and I have stuck with it ever since. I use this as a spot treatment for breakouts, but will occasionally apply it all over if my skin is feeling especially bad. Applying just a touch of this usually clears my face right up.

Fresh Rose Face Mask \\ I received this as birthday sample from Sephora and was immediately hooked. I don’t use it in the summer, but in the winter it is the best hydrating mask I’ve tried. It cools and soothes the skin, leaving it feeling better than ever. Plus the smell from the rose is perfection.

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting BHA Liquid \\ After a lot of research, I bought this skin perfecting liquid from Paula’s Choice. It’s great for a lot of reasons. It keeps my skin clean, it has anti-aging benefits, and the salicylic acid is good for breakouts and evening skin tone. I use it a few times a week for an extra skin pick-me-up.

Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate \\ This is my nightly holy grail product. I love the way it applies, I love the way it leaves my skin feeling. It helps rejuvenate my skin and works overnight to keep my face hydrated and feeling fresh. I apply a couple drops after my moisturizer and tap it into my skin. It’s a bit pricey, but it lasts forever because a few drops go a long way.

Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate \\ Fittingly, this is my daily holy grail product. This just makes me skin look better and brighter all day long. I apply a couple drops before my morning moisturizer and I’m ready to go.

Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Face Wash \\ This is just an all around solid face wash. It cleans and preps your face at an awesome price point. I use this in the morning and at night before applying my moisturizer and concentrate.

Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica Lightweight Cream \\ My dear friend, Kim, first introduced me to Kiehl’s with this product. I sent out an SOS text to my friends in the dead of winter. No matter what I tried, my face would not retain moisture. When she told me to try this, I was more than willing to give it a shot. It’s fantastic. It’s a lightweight moisturizer so it’s not too oily or greasy, but it keeps my skin hydrated. In the winter, I use it in the morning and at night. In the summer, I use it only in the evening before bed.

What are your favorite products?! I’ll be sure to give them a try.
